About Lawn & Garden Calculators
Last updated June 9, 2026
Garden math is mostly unit conversion in disguise: square feet of bed into cubic yards of soil, pounds of seed per thousand square feet, the gallons hiding in an odd-shaped pool. These calculators do those conversions with the coverage rates visible — and adjustable, because the bag label outranks any default.
Out in the yard
Right now: 6 calculators — Landscape Material Calculator, Raised Bed Soil Calculator, Grass Seed Calculator, Pool Volume Calculator, Fertilizer Calculator, and Plant Spacing Calculator.
Rates vary, so they’re editable
Grass-seed coverage depends on the species, fertilizer rates depend on the analysis, and mulch depth is a choice — so each tool exposes those rates as inputs with typical defaults instead of hard-coding one product’s number. The volume and area math underneath is printed in full on every page.
Soil and seasons get a vote
These are gardening estimates, not agronomic or landscaping advice — soil, climate, and plant needs vary, so adjust to your own conditions.
Report a bad estimate
If a default rate here doesn’t match what reputable bag labels say, email corrections@lawnandgardencalc.com and the default gets reviewed.
